At the core of our program is our commitment to the highest quality medical care in an intellectually stimulating environment. The Brigham's anesthesia department has renowned faculty who are dedicated to the teaching and support of our accomplished residents so that they will be superbly prepared to practice in any setting, however challenging. We are fortunate to have all the resources of the Harvard affiliated hospitals available to us, with an unmatched diversity of clinical cases and outstanding research and public service opportunities.
We seek to nurture all the talents of our residents throughout their training so that they will not only achieve competency in all areas but will go on to become leaders in the field and achieve their highest potential as physicians and researchers. We also seek to foster a collegial and supportive atmosphere.

From our current Chief Residents:
Drs. Stephen Raithel, Jen Xiong, Luai Zakaria
I was looking for an institution that has a long-standing reputation for being a warm, collaborative environment for me to thrive in.
Whether you're moving down the street or across the country,
we're excited to welcome you into our family!
"I’m a gay man who grew up in a conservative, religious, and Middle Eastern family.
Finding genuine acceptance and community in a residency program was challenging, until I found the Brigham.
I had finally not only found where I could train to be the doctor I hope to be, but also to exist as I truly am. 🏳️🌈"
Join our #BrighamFamily outside of the hospital by adding the tag #BWHanesthesia on Peloton as we spin 🚴🏻♀️, strike our yoga stances🧘🏾♂️, and strengthen our bodies 🤸🏽🏋🏼♂️
No matter how busy, our team makes sure to take care of themselves so they can continuing providing outstanding take care to patients 💪🏼😷
it's heart work.
